How We Compare Betting Sites

Our comparison process applies the same six criteria to every product we review. Scores are editorial assessments — not official ratings — and are subject to change when products change.

The basis for our comparisons

OddsRoyalty compares selected UK-facing sportsbook products using a fixed set of editorial criteria. We do not accept product descriptions from operators at face value. We review each product as a member of the public would encounter it: opening the site, navigating the betting interface, locating the terms, and looking for responsible gambling tools.

Each criterion contributes to an overall editorial score. The weighting is not published as a formula — editorial comparison involves judgement, and presenting a formula would imply a precision we don't claim. What we do commit to is consistency: every product is assessed against the same criteria by the same approach.

Scores range from 1 to 10. A score above 8 indicates a product that performs well across most criteria. A score below 7 typically reflects meaningful weaknesses in one or more areas. No score implies a recommendation to bet; it reflects our comparison view only.

01

Market depth and coverage

We look at how many sports are covered, how many pre-match events are typically available for major leagues, and whether in-play betting is available in a meaningful way. A product that covers only football with thin event schedules scores lower than one with genuine multi-sport coverage. We also note whether niche sports — darts, snooker, MMA — are covered consistently, as these matter to a section of the UK sports betting audience.

02

Mobile usability

Most UK sports betting happens on mobile. We assess whether the product is available as a native app, a mobile-optimised website, or both, and how well the core betting flow functions on a phone. Navigation between markets, loading speed, and the quality of the in-play mobile experience all factor in. A product that requires desktop use to bet effectively is marked down.

03

Terms clarity

Betting terms are the area where many products fall down. We read the key terms — withdrawal limits, verification requirements, restrictions on markets and bet types — and assess how clearly they are written and how accessible they are within the site. Burying important restrictions in a long PDF that requires multiple clicks to find is a mark against clarity. We do not verify every term for legal accuracy; we assess how transparent the presentation is.

04

Safer gambling tools

Every product we review is checked for the presence and visibility of responsible gambling tools: deposit limits, loss limits, session time limits, self-exclusion options, and links to support organisations. We also note whether these tools are easy to find from within an account. Products that bury gambling controls score lower than those that make them genuinely accessible.

05

Bet builder and accumulators

Bet builders — which allow multiple same-game selections on a single bet — are now a standard feature among larger UK sportsbooks. We assess whether the product offers this feature, how many legs can be combined, and how smoothly the feature works in practice. For products without a bet builder, we note this clearly. Standard accumulator tools are assessed for ease of construction and odds presentation.

06

Payment options

We check what deposit and withdrawal methods are available, whether they include common UK options, and whether minimum and maximum limits are clearly stated. We do not test payment processing times directly, but we note any significant published information about processing speed or associated fees.

Limitations of our comparisons

Our comparisons reflect conditions at the time of review. Odds, markets, terms, promotions, and payment options change regularly. We update our assessments when we become aware of significant changes, but we cannot guarantee that all information is current at the time you read it.

We do not make claims about actual payout speed, odds competitiveness in real-time, or the financial reliability of any operator. We are an editorial comparison site, not a financial or legal authority.

Always verify terms, markets, and conditions directly with any operator before registering or depositing. If you have a dispute with an operator, the UK Gambling Commission provides a dispute resolution pathway.
